Day 6 Sky City Casno

Left the Oasis RV Resort outside of Amarillo, TX at a late start for us around 8:30. This was after a walk around the campground and enjoying the sun rise.

It was a pleasant drive today with one exception. A semi came down the entrance ramp and did not give. I could not change lanes immediately because of another semi to my left. I applied the breaks to fall in line behind the semi to my left. This left the next truck and horse trailer coming up pn my left to take the berm. Thankfully every thing turned out fine but talk about being between a rock and a hard place!

We are now at Sky City Casino 60 miles west of Albuquerque.

Some pictures from the drive today.

Fall Trip Start

Friday Sept 20, 2019

After doctor appointments and closing up the house I was on my way to Cincinnati for two days with the kids.

Saturday Sept 21, 2019

Theo and Lila had a good time playing in the trailer. Even had Theo spend the Saturday night in the trailer without his parents. Sue was on cloud 9.

Sunday Sept 22, 2019

The whole family had breakfast in the trailer and we got on the road at 8:30 am. It was Sunday morning and there was little traffic so we took 75 S through Cincinnati and then picked up 71 S.  We were only planning to travel 300 miles each day but the drive was easy, the weather was sunny with dry roads and we were content to be on the road.  Four hundred miles later we finally stopped at Natchez Trace State Park and stayed in the Wrangler Campground which was located just 2 miles off Rt. 40. The campground has a lot of mature trees, but it is an older campground that has not been updated in quite a while.  There are only three RV’s camping here tonight.  One camper has 4 horses with them. The campsites are not designed for larger rigs and could be difficult to get in.  We ended up with Site 22 which is a pull thru.  It’s definitely not a destination campground, but quite adequate for our one night stay. With a senior discount it was $22.50 with water and 50 amp electrical hookup.

Another 450 mile day with morning showers followed by a beautiful afternoon as we entered Texas.
We are just west of Amarillo, TX at the Oasis RV Resort. Not cheap but very nice with individual restrooms.
